If you've been interested in making the switch from Outlook to Gmail but was hesitant to do so for fear of missing out on all your old email archives --> wait no longer.
The new IMAP support for Gmail allows you to load all your old messages into your current Gmail account in 3 EASY STEPS.
Step 1: Enable IMAP in your Gmail account.
Step 2: Configure your Gmail/IMAP account in Outlook.
Step 3: Move or Copy your old email folders to the newly defined Gmail/IMAP account in Outlook.
Your folders' name will appear in Gmail as labels.
Once done, you can delete your Gmail/IMAP account from Outlook and switch completely to the Gmail. OR...you can take advantage of IMAP and keep using BOTH.
Here's some more information on IMAP in Gmail and how do actions sync in IMAP.
Remember: Uploading thousands of old messages will take time, so --> be patient AND
don't forget to watch your Gmail usage % number. You probably don't want to exceed your quota.
