***New *** Useful Tools Search Engine

Although I have not been consistently posting to this blog; I do come across MANY useful tools on a daily basis.

Once I understand the tool and how it could potentially be beneficial; I usually do...nothing.

That is except make a note of the new tool and how to find it.

While there are many ways to accomplish this - from list makers to social bookmarks (maybe a future post) --The trick is to know how to find that tool when you actually NEED to use it.

Now, even my lists are so big that browsing through them is not practical.

So I have decided to create a Custom Search Engine. One that is will help me locate the right tool at a later date, WHEN I need it.

I have used the Google Custom Search Engine platform. It's a simple and straightforward product to use and understand. In a matter of minutes you can create a search engine that reflects your knowledge and interests; and, if you choose, you can make money from the traffic you receive through Google's AdSense program.

You can even invite your friends and trusted community members to add to and help build your search engine.

The new Useful Tools Search Engine is tailored to the topics and areas I know and love the most --> Free Tools For Business and Personal Use.

I have also included it in the Links section of the blog (left side).

If you like the Useful Tools Search Engine and would like to participate in further enhancing it, please let me know and I will send you an invite.

How To Copy Your Website (And Take It with You to a New Web Host)

The other day I read an interesting post, by blogging tips site, Essential Keystrokes, on how to "Easily Switch from One Web Host to Another".

The 1st step in the guide is to backup/copy your website.

The tool I use for this task is HTTrack. It is a free, offline browser utility which lets you copy an entire Web site to your computer. HTTrack will copy all web pages and images, and reconstruct internal links on a site.

HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.

Once you have your website on your computer; switching to a new web host is a "no brainer" -- just follow the rest of the steps in the guide.
